ISLAND OF LOST SOULS 1932 (CRITERION)

For genre fans this has always been the most eagerly awaited film to have a DVD release, and finally Criterion takes up the slack from Universal. Based on the novel Island Of Dr. Moreau by H. G. Wells.
Charles Laughton stars as Dr. Moreau, a man living on an island inhabited by himself and many mutant like creatures that are actually his experiments.
Richard Arlen is a man who accidently ends up on the island and Moreau wants to see him and his prefect creation, the Panther Woman mate. A very twisted and bizarre film that shocked audiences in 1932 and still holds some punch today.
Criterion's print is good and makes the film look about as good as it is ever going to. Laughton gives a chilling performance as Moreau, Bela Lugosi is the Sayer Of The Law, Kathleen Burke is the Panther Woman and Richard Arlen is the young hero.

Very Highly Recommended horror from the Criterion collection.
