THE OVAL PORTRAIT 1972 (MILL CREEK)

This is a film based on an Edgar Allen Poe story published in 1850 about a woman possessed by the spirit trapped inside a portrait.
This is a very bizarre and disturbing film with scenes of violence, bloodshed and necrophilia. The costumes are excellent and this was the last film for actress Wanda Hendrix, who does a very good job.
It is also a somewhat sad and ironic film that does portray a love that never got completed and the madness it has caused. The little kicker at the end was a very welcome, albiet sad one.
Recommended for fans of subtle, but well done horror.
