FROGS 1972 (MGM)

One of the best 70's horror films!! This gem was released on a double bill with Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster. Ray Milland stars as Jason Crockett, a very wealthy man who has been using too many pesticides in his lake front property in Florida, and nature is tired of it.
Members of his family are killed in mysterious ways by various wildlife and insects such as alligators, spiders, lizards and many more.
Sam Elliot is Pickett Smith, a photographer who has his boat tipped over by some of the members of Jason's family and finds himself caught up in their party which slowly turns to terror.
The attacks are well done for what they are and some are very effective when such creepy crawlies such as spiders and leeches are involved. Yuck.
I like this film and I recommend it to any horror fan who hasn't seen it.
The cast also includes Adam Roarke, Joan Van Ark, Lynn Borden, Judy Pace and Mae Mercer.

  1. An awesome movie! Having been born and raised in South Florida, I can tell you that the snakes, bugs and alligators were hugely plentiful when I was a kid there. I have witnessed some of those critters that I thought it wouldn't take much for them to swallow me up. Snakes as long as a pickup truck and big around as a watermelon. I saw alligators with heads that resembled tree stumps sticking out of the water back in the swamps. One gator I saw at a county fair once had to be displayed in a semi-trailer. The gator was alive but it was all he could do to fit in that trailer. Just a huge animal that will probably not be seen again now that Florida has grown into little more than concrete and asphalt. This movie is fun and it really brings back some of those memories for me.

    1. Thanks for the insight about Florida of the past. This movie is often overlooked as a good film because too many people like to tear movies apart, they seem to think that is what a critic does.
I have said it many times here, I will never tear a low budget film down, only a modern day outrageous budget film.
