DAY THE EARTH FROZE 1964 (RETROMEDIA)

Well made fantasy film based on Finnish legends about a young mane named Lemminkainen who attempts to woo a young lady as well as fight an evil witch. The witch steals the sun and plunges the earth into freezing cold and darkness.
The story is kept somewhat intact after the guts have been cut out and it was redubbed for US audiences. What remains is very atmospheric and it is a well told story.
If you get a chance you might want to see this, it may be your only chance to see a film from Finland. Recommended!!
