31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN DAY 16: RETURN OF DRACULA 1958 (MGM)

Absolutely one of the best horror films of the 50's!!

Francis Lederer stars as a vampire who kills a man coming to the US and assumes his identity. He moves in to a small California town and begins a new reign of terror. He had assumed the identity of their relative from the Balkins and pretends he is an artist. Norma Eberhardt is lovely as Rachel, the young woman who is targeted by the vampire. Lots of shocks and scares as the vampire kills a young blind wman and makes her his slave.

The US immigration department gets involved, which is a nice story twist and finally the vampire has run out of places to hide. The DVD finally brings us the color scene in which the blind girl has a stake driven thru her heart, and the death of the vampire isn't in color, but it is gruesome.

What makes this film different is that is takes place in modern California and is in no way gothic. The film was written by Pat Fielder, a young woman who wrote four of the most interesting sci-fi horror films of the 50's. They are Return Of Dracula, The Vampire, Monster That Challenged The World and The Flame Barrier.

Highly unique film that is perfect for Halloween viewing.
