DOOMSDAY MACHINE 1972 (SHOUT FACTORY)

One of the oddest sci-fi films I have ever seen!

An all star B movie cast in a tale about Red China using a "Doomsday" device and several people are sent into space in the hopes of saving mankind. There are several men and three women on this two year mission, and you just know trouble will be a happening soon.

The cast is really interesting...you have Mike Farrell as a reporter, James Craig, Scott (Denny) Miller, Grant Williams, Bobby Van, Henry Wilcoxon, lovely Lorri Scott, and two of my favorite sexy as hell women Ruta Lee and Mala Powers and of course doing the countdown is........Casey Kasem!!

This movie was on KWGN from Denver Colorado when I first saw it and I was very confused by the ending. The filmmakers ran out of money and some of the characters disappear without a trace and then they hired other actors to voice over some action towards the end where the last two survivors meet up with the beings of Venus....I think. I actually thought I was watching a different movie!! I was also always fascinated with the many garish colors on the ship. The lighting is very unique for this kind of a film.

Movies like this make me love movies even more and that is because I completely understand the plight of working with very little money. This disc is from Elvira's Movie Macabre and she makes the entire film worth watching with her snide remarks and such. I will recommend this only to people who are die hard fans such as myself or to Mala Powers fans.
