WINCHESTER 73 1950 (UNIVERSAL)

A true western classic starring Jimmy Stewart and directed by Anthony Mann.

Stewart stars as a man who wins a Winchester rifle in a shoot out contest only to have it stolen by a man he has been tracking for many miles. The rifle falls into many hands along the way back to Stewart including and Indian brave played by Rock Hudson, a vicious highwayman played by Dan Duryea and a gunseller played by John McIntire.

The action never lets up and Mann does his usual great job helming this combination of western and film noir. The cast also includes Charles Drake, Shelley Winters and Stephen McNally as the man Stewart is hunting, and that in itself is a very good plot twist. I won't give anything away, but I do Highly Recommend this film for western fans and fans of great cinema.
