THE BLACK CAT 1934 (UNIVERSAL)

Karloff and Lugosi together for the first time!

David Manners and Jacqueline Wells are a young couple who are involved in a car accident along with Bela Lugosi an they all find themselves spending the night in the home of a devil worshipper named Hjalmar Poelzig, played by Karloff. The house if very modern for it's time and would actually hold up well today.

We soon learn that the character played by Lugosi, Vitus Werdegast, haas a deep hatred for Poelzig who stole his wife and them married his daughter!! Director edgar G. Ulmer does his usual top notch job in making this film work.

A great Universal horror film that was ahead of it's time and mad a ton of money when first released. Highly Recommended horror.
