HORROR ISLAND 1941 (UNIVERSAL)

Interesting film with one of the biggest gaffes I have ever seen in a film!!

A down on his luck man played by Dick Foran offers people a trip to his small island where a haunted house supposedly holds a large treasure. When they arrive at the island, people are being killed off one by one.

This movie has all the trappings of the "Old dark house" genre and the cast really helps this film. Besides Foran you have Leo Carillo, Fuzzy Knight, John Eldredge and the lovely Peggy Moran who is oh so easy on the eyes.

There are two really remarkable things about this film..first it was completed on March 15, 1941 and edited and scored and released just 13 days later!! In one scene a crew member can clearly be seen holding a light on the face of Dick Foran as the people enter the old house, as the camera pans to the right, the crew member walks out of frame holding the light. I cannot believe they didn't catch this in editing, but the above mentioned fact about being edited, scored and everything else and then released 13 days later might have something to do with it.

This is a good Universal horror tale for those who like their horror "lite".
