PARANOIAC 1963 (UNIVERSAL)

Another great Hammer thriller.

Oliver Reed stars as a man who is trying to drive his sister insane. Reed is perfect as a psychotic, wealthy man whose world is suddenly turned upside down by the appearance of a man who claims to be his brother. This will effect the money he will inherit in three weeks unless he can prove the man is an imposter.

Lovely Janette Scott is his sister and potential victim. It is interesting to note that in this film all of the people whom we think are sane are crazy, and those we are lead to believe are crazy are the sane ones.

Freddie Francis directs this very well from a Jimmy Sangster script and the black and white photography is lush and beautiful. If you like mysteries and Hammer films, then this is a sure bet for you. Reed never appeared more insane and the ending is very bizarre.
