THE HAUNTING 1963 (WARNER)

One of the greatest ghost stories ever.

I watched this on Blu-ray the other day and it looks fabulous. Richard Johnson, Russ Tamblyn , Julie Harris and lovely Claire Bloom are four people who investigate a haunted house and get more than they bargained for.

Johnson is Dr. Markway who is investigating Hill House, which has a history of insanity and violence. Two female assistants join him upon his request. Julie Harris is the meek and scared Eleanor Lance who feels she belongs to the house. Claire Bloom is Theo, a young attractive woman who soon learns the meaning of fear and Russ Tamblyn is Luke Sanderson, the soon to be owner of Hill House.

There are some truly terrifying moments in this film with all of the weird banging noises and whatnot. I suggest watching this with the lights completely out and very late at night for the full effect. I won't give much away here, but I simply cannot recommend this film enough. A huge thanks to Warner for putting this out on Blu-ray.
