THE FROZEN DEAD 1966 (WARNER ARCHIVE)

At last, this film is again available on DVD.

Dana Andrews stars as a Nazi scientist named Norberg who is trying to revive soldiers of the German army who have been frozen in order to re-start the Nazi empire. When the doctor's niece and one of her friends come to visit from college things take a turn for the worst.

His niece, played by Anna Palk knows nothing of her Uncle's work, but when her friend, Ilsa, played by the gorgeous Kathleen Breck disappears she intends to find out more with the help of an American doctor played by Philip Gilbert.

The doctor's assistant kills Ilsa and they keep her still living head in a box in the lab in order to study her brain and see if they can revive the soldiers sooner than expected. The head developed strong psychic powers and uses them to help stop the mad doctor.

Yes, the plot is somewhat convoluted, but this is a fun film and one that I have always liked since I first saw it as a small child. The scenes if Ilsa's head in the box trying to communicate with her friend is something I cannot forget. It is well done, and honestly, so is the movie. The print from Warner Archive is very nice and it is presented in a 1.66:1 aspect ratio. Recommended to any horror fan.
