KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL 1952 (DIAMOND)

One of the best film noir's ever.

John Payne stars as Joe Rolfe, an ex-con trying to go straight who gets framed for an armored car robbery and is arrested by the police.

He is released for lack of evidence, but after being beaten up by the cops he heads out to clear his name. This takes him to Mexico where he finds dangerous hit men and corrupt cops.

Preston Foster is the crooked cop who set the entire plan up along with Lee Van Cleef, Neville Brand and Jack Elam. This is a true cast of film noir greats and they all work very, very well together.Coleen Gray is Foster's unsuspecting daughter who falls for Payne in a big way.

The scenes with Elam in a small airport about to be arrested is a very tense one that director Phil Karlson pulls off extremely well. There is a lot of action, violence and plot twists in this superb film and I would recommend it to any lover of film noir.
