LAKE OF THE DEAD 1958 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Bizarre but very well made Norwegian horror film.

A small group of friends travel to the woods and stay at a cabin where it is rumored that a crazy man murdered his sister, her lover and himself and that anyone staying at the lake will be drawn to it in order to drown themselves. Things go well until one of them turns up missing and another member starts sleepwalking in an effort to indeed drown herself in the lake.

Each character tries to explain it away and denies anything to do with the supernatural. The film really takes the viewer for a ride and lets him decide for sure what is happening. Things are casually explained away, but other odd things keep happening and piling up on each other. The ending will really make you think and it is jolting.

Most modern movie lovers won't like this film as it is very dialogue heavy and not full of flash and constant comic book action, but for those who like sublime horror and developing characters, this is a must see horror film. The print from Sinister is wide screen and beautiful black and white. Recommended!!
