SPIDER BABY 1968 (SINISTER CINEMA)

One of the oddest movies around.

This is a classic horror film that languished for a while in total obscurity and then, thank God, was brought back out into the light so we could all enjoy it.

Jack Hill directed this film starring Lon Chaney, Jr. as the caretaker for the last line of an inbred family named Merrye and what a clan they are. Beverly Washburn and Jill Banner are Elizabeth and Virginia Merrye and Sid Haig is Ralph. These "children" have a disease that causes them to regress mentally after the age of 10 or 15.

Soon a distant relative comes to dispossess them of their home and then things get really weird. The dinner scene is one you'll never forget. Slowly the "children" get rid of the intruders and their caretaker (Chaney) sees no good coming of any of this so he decides to end it all in a very unique way. The rest of the cast includes Carol Ohmart, Quinn Redeker, and Karl Schanzer.

This is definitely a film for those who enjoy the twisted and the bizarre. All of the performances are top notch and from the very first introduction to the family via an ill fated mailman played by Mantan Moreland, we all know we are in for more than just a regular viewing experience. Highly Recommended!!
