HELLCATS OF THE NAVY 1957 (SONY)

Good WW2 drama.

Ronald Reagan stars as Cmdr. Casey Abbott, who is trying to chart the minefields in the sea of Japan during WW2. His mission is a tough one at best, but he manages to get it done.

At one point Abbott loses his ship as he is forced to surface in the middle of a fleet of Japanese ships. Reagan does a very good job with his role in this Charles Schneer production. Nathan Juran directed this film and does a good job.

The supporting cast includes Nancy Davis (Reagan), Arthur Franz, William Phillips, Don Keefer, Robert Arthur and Joe Turkel.

I first saw this on a DVD a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised about how good it was. It is always a pleasure to see the greatest leader this country ever had in my lifetime in his movie roles. Some were good, others were just ok, but always a joy to watch.
