MACKENNA'S GOLD 1969 (SONY)

Epic western that has a few surprises.

Gregory peck stars as Mackenna, a sheriff who is taken captive by a bandit and forced to take him to a legendary mountain filled with gold.

Omar Sharif is the bandit named Colorado who kidnaps Mackenna and soon both are joined by 17 more people including rich citizens of a small town led by Eli Wallach. The rag tag band of greedy men have many adventures including run-ins with Indians and killers.

When they finally stumble on the gold most of the party has been killed by either Indians or each other. A huge earthquake destroys everything in the final and Colorado escapes but he know Mackenna will be looking for him.

The film in a magnificent adventure set against the desert back drop,and the cast of great actors make this well worth watching. The cast includes Telly Savalas, Camilla Sparv, Keenan Wynn, Julie Newmar as an Indian who is in love with Mackenna, Ted Cassidy, Lee J. Cobb, Raymond Massey, Burgess Meredith, Anthony Quayle, Edward G. Robinson as a blind man who death scene is unforgettable.

If you get a chance, check this one out. A great western with great adventure.
