GODZILLA VS. THE SEA MONSTER 1966 (KRAKEN)

I am in the midst of Godzilla mania and love the older Godzilla films the best, and here is a classic now available on Blu-ray.

It has been a long time since I saw this film. A man steals a boat in order to find his brother who disappeared at sea in a storm and he and his shipmates soon find themselves stranded on an island inhabited by a sleeping Godzilla, a huge sea monster named Ebirah, and a mysterious military group called "Red Bamboo".

The Red Bamboo enslaves islanders from Infant Island and have them make a mysterious yellow liquid that keeps Ebirah at bay. The shipwrecked men help a very gorgeous island girl who has escaped the Red Bamboo. Her name is Daiyo and is portrayed by the sexy Kumi Mizuno. It is always a plus to have her in a film.

They awaken Godzilla and he and Ebirah have a battle. The battle is done in a semi-comic way, but it is still effective an fun to watch. Mothra also turns up to save the islanders from enslavement and this makes for a great monster bash.

This is a fun film and one not to be missed by any Godzilla fan. the Blu-ray looks good and the colors are deep and the sound is excellent. A small company called Kraken has turned out three older Godzilla films for Blu-ray release, and they will all be reviewed here with this being the first.
