James Coburn is a man who is moving up the political ladder. He is about to be promoted and so he must hide his shady past. he comes up with a very complicated but intricate plan to have four of his former associates all kill each other in the span of a single night.
Coburn is very good in the role of Robert Elliot, as cold blooded a man as there ever was. Lee Grant is a female reporter who becomes involved with Coburn, only to be treated badly and turn on him.
The ending is a great twist that takes you by total surprise. Coburn is a cocky killer who finally gets his comeuppance. The rest of the cast includes Ian Hendry, Harry Andrews, Keenan Wynn, and Julian Glover.
I highly recommend this film for anyone who likes political thrillers.
