GRIZZLY 1976 (SHRIEK SHOW)

The most successful independent film of 1976.

I have reviewed this here a long time ago and I figured it was time to look at it again.

Christopher George stars in this film about a rampaging grizzly that is killing and eating campers and hikers. It is 18 feet and weighs about 3000 pounds.

Since this was made when we had freedom in America, there are several scenes that will always stay with me including the one where a small boy is attacked and has his leg ripped off! Today's garbage cinema would never allow anything like that. Anyway, the bear claims victim after victim while George along with Andrew Prine and Richard Jaeckel hunt it down.

William Girdler does his usual great directing job and everyone turns in a fine performance. Basically this is just "Jaws" on land, but it works, and it works well. The suspense is set up perfectly, which is also something film makers today just cannot seem to do, and finally, the bear is very real not some CGI cartoon.

If you haven't seen this film, you should.
