CARNIVAL OF SINNERS 1943 (TCM VIEWING)

I haven't watched TV in over four years, but I have recorded a few films from TCM an this was one of them, and it was a pleasant little surprise.

This is a French film about a talisman that resembles a human hand, and the evil it brings. The movie opens when a man comes to an inn in the Alps and tells a very strange story.

It seems the man was a failing artist who sold his soul to the Devil for fame and fortune an then he was given the talisman by a chef who was all to happy to be rid of it.

The artist is happy and content until the day, one year later when the devil comes to collect his due.

There are so many excellent set pieces and expressionistic sets on this film, it is a feast for the eyes. It is in French with English subtitles, and the print TCM ran was beautiful. This is a very rare film that I had never seen before, and I recommend it to anyone who likes horror.
