DRACULA IN ISTANBUL 1953 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Very rare little thriller.

This film pretty much follows the Bram Stoker story we are all familiar with, but there are a few twists and turns along the way.

Atif Kaptan plays Drakula and he really looks like Conrad Veidt in most of the scenes. This is one of, if not the very first time we actually see Drakuls with fangs in a movie, Up until this time the fags were never really shown.

One can tell this film is very low budget, but it really tries to be more than it's budget allows, and it often succeeds. Annie Ball is Guzin, a lovely young singer whom the vampire wants and Ayfer Feray is Sadan, the sister of Guzin who falls prey to the evil Count.

The print from Sinister is pretty good for a film like this. It is, of course from overseas sources and the picture is a little wavy at times, but still very, very watchable. It has subtitles (it's a Turkish film) and I cannot recommend this enough for people who like foreign horror.

It's a rare film and one well worth seeking out.
