HERCULES UNCHAINED 1959 (MILL CREEK)

Steve Reeves returns in the sequel to Hercules.

Hercules is in route to act as a negotiator of peace between two brothers who want the throne of Thebes. On his journey he is accompanied by a young Ulysses.

They are sidetracked and Hercules drinks from a mysterious fountain that causes him to lose his memory. He is then brought to Lidia and seduced by the evil but gorgeous Queen Onfale. Thanks to his friend Ulysses, Hercules slowly regains his memory and find the Queen had been planning for his death all along, after she was finished using him of course.

Hercules returns to Thebes and finds that members of his family have been killed and his beautiful wife Iole is being held to face death in a Tiger pit.

Good overcomes evil in this finely crafted sword and sandal film in which Reeves turns in a very good performance, as usual.

beautiful Sylva Koscina is Iole and Sylvia Lopez is Queen Onfale. She is easily one of the most beautiful women to ever appear in a film like this and as I mentioned in a previous review, her career and life was cut tragically short at the age of 26 in 1959 from Leukemia. Primo Carnera appears in an excellent sequence as a Giant that takes Hercules on in a well done fight scene.

This one is very highly recommended for fans of the genre.
