PHANTASM 1979 (WELL GO USA) BLU-RAY

Still just as great as the first time I saw in back in 1979.

It has been a long time coming, but this wonderful horror outing finally makes it to Blu-ray.

Two brothers living in a small town after the death of their parents are soon grieving another loss, that of a good friend.

After the funeral, the youngest brother notices that Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) who is in charge of the mortuary lifts the coffin all by himself! Soon other things are discovered as well including flying discs that hit your head, drill into it and pump out the blood.

The brothers, Mike (Mike Baldwin) and Jody (Bill Thornbury) decide to investigate Morningside Mortuary along with their friend Reggie (Reggie Bannister). What they discover involves bizarre creatures and other worlds.

The film contains many, many great moments involving severed fingers, bizarre flying creatures and dwarves that bleed yellow slime.

The ending of the film is quite good as it pulls the old switcheroo of a dream and then immediately pulls out a final shock for the audience.

I can't beieve it was 37 years since I last saw this gem. Don Coscarelli started his career with this film and to this day he still makes totally original films like Bubba Ho Tep.

Highly recommended Blu-ray disc that should bring you plenty of scares and good entertainment.
