A SHOT IN THE DARK 1935 (MILL CREEK)

A pretty interesting 30's murder mystery.

Distributed by Chesterfield Films, this mystery surrounds the apparent suicide of a student by hanging that turns out to actually be a murder.

Charles Starrett is the friend of the victim who calls in his father who is a criminologist. The two have plenty of suspects and one by one they eliminate them until they manage to nab the killer.

The film follows the standard formula of these kinds of films, but it does not lose the viewers interest. Director Charles Lamont does a great job in this early effort in his career.

There are several red herrings in the film and they keep the plot twisting around. The rest of the cast includes Edward Van Sloan, Marion Shilling and Doris Lloyd.
