THE THING THAT COULDN'T DIE 1958 (UNIVERSAL)

A great Universal horror film.

It took me a few years, but I managed to purchase this MOD DVD from Universal and it is a good little upgrade from my bootleg that I reviewed here a while back.

The still alive head of a warlock named Gideon Drew is found alive in a trunk dug up on a ranch. The head still has powers and takes over the mind of a ranch hand (Charles Horvath).

The head sacrifices the ranch hand and moves on to another young woman staying at the ranch and before you know it, everyone is acting odd.

A young man staying at the ranch named Gordon Hawthorn (William Reynolds)is slowly falling in love with the lovely Jessica Burns (Carolyn Kearney) who has water witching abilities. She is the one who originally found the trunk and now the head also wants to possess her in order to find it's body from which it has been separated for 400 years.

This is a very creepy and well made Universal shocker. Robin Hughes is excellent as Gideon Drew, the demonic warlock who in a very well done scene has his head put back on his body. When I first saw this as a kid it creeped me out.

For some reason this is an overlooked horror from Universal, but I am very glad it at least made it to DVD. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for 50's horror fans.
