WARLOCK MOON 1973 (CODE RED) BLU-RAY

One of my favorite little oddities is finally available on Blu-Ray.

Laurie Walters and Joe Spano star in this bizarre and twisted little thriller which I first saw many years ago on Creature Features with Bob Wilkins.

Walters is Jenny McCallister, a young college student who starts dating a man named John Devers (Spano). On a picnic they take a wrong turn and end up at what they think is an abandoned spa. They both find that it is inhabited by an elderly woman named Agnes Abercrombi (Edna MacAfee). The lady invites them for tea and Jenny gets very tired and decides to rest while John goes on a tour with Agnes.

She sees some bizarre sites including a ghost of a bride and two homicidal men with axes. John does not believe her and Agnes says she was just overly tired. They leave but Agnes invites them back for a dinner.

This is when the viewer finds that not everything is as it seems, and Jenny really has things to fear. It has a great twist ending which takes a second twist which really throws the viewer for a loop. I know it surprised the hell out of me when I first saw it.

This is a really low budget effort and it looks great here on Blu-Ray. The entire cast give a wonderful performance and the director, William Herbert for some reason never made another film.

If you enjoy good, low budget horror, I highly recommend you see this film. The DVD also includes interviews with both Walters and Spano, which are very entertaining. Another top release of the year.
