THE MINOTAUR, WILD BEAST OF CRETE 1960 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Very well made and fun sword and sandal film.

Star Bob Mathias was the first athlete to win two consecutive Gold medals in the same event in the Olympics. After the sporting events he went into acting.

In this Mathias is Prince Teseo, a man who joins his best friend in an attempt to stop an evil empire from sacrificing virgins to a monster called a Minotaur.

Lovely Rosanna Schiaffino has a dual role of the evil Princess Fedra and her twin sister Arianna, who falls in love with Teseo. Fedra wants Arianna killed and out of the way and she assigns her top soldier, Chirone (Albert Lupo) to do the job.

Things don't quite work out as planned and Fedra is killed and Arianna pretends to be Fedra until she is found out. After a lot of palace intrigue, Teseo decides it's time to kill the monster and free the people.

The monster itself is a pretty cool looking thing, and I remember it well from my childhood. This is a very good film and Sinister presents it in a gorgeous widescreen presentation. It's dubbed in English, but does have a few spots where Italian language kicks in for a few moments.

The rest of the cast for this gem includes Rik Battaglia and beautiful Susanne Loret as the Goddess of the sea, Anfitrite. I would really recommend this for fans of the genre.
