FROZEN ALIVE 1964 (RETROMEDIA)

Not really a horror film, but a crime drama tinged with science fiction elements.

Mark Stevens stars as Dr. Frank Overton, a doctor experimenting with suspended animation during freezing. His beautiful assistant is Dr. Helen Wieland (Marianne Koch) and both a close to achieving success with their experiments.

Frank has an obnoxious wife that drinks too much and who gives him no support at all. She is having an affair with the son of the police inspector and one day in a drunken stupor she shoots herself with his gun and dies.

Frank is accused of the crime, but the police cannot do much at this point since Frank is a test subject on his own experiment and is frozen alive. The investigation continues and so does the experiment.

The truth is finally revealed and Frank is cleared. He and Helen decide to try being together. This film is slow going sometimes, but is still a good West German crime film. The print from Retromedia is good. This movie is good for a rainy Saturday afternoon.
