PURSUIT TO ALGIERS 1945 (MPI)

Basil Rathbone stars as Sherlock Holmes.

Holmes and Watson (Nigel Bruce) are assigned to escort a European ruler to his throne in his native country after his father has been killed.

The ship they are on is full of suspicious characters some of whom are Nazi spies.Leslie Vincent is the heir who Holmes and Watson try to protect. Since this is a Universal film, there are a lot of familiar faces including John Abbott, Martin Kosleck and William "Wee Willie" Davis.

The plot moves along quickly as the film has a very short running time. Rathbone and Bruce are always a joy to watch and this is one of the best of the series. The ending is a neat twist and one I didn't see coming.

All of the Sherlock Holmes films are well worth seeing, and it has been ages since I saw one. I only have a few in my collection which is a shame. I may try to do something about that.

Anyway, if you're a fan of detective films and Holmes movies, check it out.
