SWAMP OF THE RAVENS 1976 (VCI)

Interesting and very odd horror film.

I reviewed this a while back on my Something Weird disc and I have since discovered that this print is actually a few minutes longer than the other print. Who'd a thunk it?

This Spanish film shot in Ecuador is really something to see. The story revolves around a young doctor named Frosta (Ramiro Oliveros) who doesn't believe that death is the end of life, and he sets out to prove it.

His experiments end in failure and he disposes of the bodies in a nearby swamp. What is never explained is why these dead bodies come back to life and just stare at the doctor when he appears.

A police inspector played by Fernando Sancho is hot on the trail, but always about three steps behind. The doctor is finally caught and we think he is dead, until we see him teaching at another school, but that is still not the end of this little film. I will not spoil it.

The birds in this film are not actually ravens either, they are buzzards but whose complaining. The print quality is better than the Something Weird version and my hat is off the VCI for taking the time to make this look so good.

If you haven't seen this film, I recommend you do for something different.
