31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN DAY 13: ONE EYED SOLDIERS 1965 (ALPHA)

A very strange spy film.

Dale Robertson stars as Richard Owen, a US newspaper reporter who is inadvertently pulled into a twisted tale of espionage and murder.

A mysterious Dr. Charles Berens has jumped to his death instead of give up a secret and that secret has been passed on to his gorgeous daughter, Gava (Luciana Paluzzi). Now a top mob leader named Caporelli (Mile Avramovic) wants the secret so he can collect 15 million dollars and a lot of power.

Gava runs into Owen and the two find themselves hunted by gangsters and other sorted types. Owen wants to help Gava, but it seems like something always gets in the way. After many gunfights and murders, Gava and Owen are captured by Caporelli.

Caporelli wants the secret of the One Eyed Soldiers, which turns out to be statues containing riches. To obtain the secret he has Gava stripped to the waist and whipped, but before things really get started Own manages to get Gava and escape with the help of "The Fat Man" (Guy Deghy).

I had heard of this movie, but not much and had never seen it until I received this disc. It's an enjoyable piece of hokum and moves at a great pace. Robertson seems a little out of place but my main reason for watching this is, of course, Luciana Paluzzi. She is one of the most beautiful women to ever appear on movies, and this is no exception.

It has been called a James Bond wannabe, and while that may be true, that does not make it boring. In fact it's very entertaining with Mile Avramovic perfect as the villain who is also a dwarf. Weird stuff, but a lot of fun.
