WRESTLING GOLD VOL. 2 2004 (VCI)

The second of five discs brings us some more great wrestling action.

Jim Cornette and Dave Meltzler once again bring us great behind the scenes facts about the men involved as well as the matches.

The disc is entitled "The Maim Event" and runs 2 hours.

Match 1 is from Mid-South Wrestling and involves The Rock N' Roll Express against Randy "Macho Man" Savage and his brother Lanny Poffo. As you can guess this match is a wild and out of control affair.

Match 2 is Manny Fernandez vs. Nick Bockwinkel from Southwest Championship wrestling. Two high caliber talents in the squared circle make this a great match for the TV studio fans.

The 3rd match is an all time classic from Detroit with The Sheik taking on Mark Lewin in a Loser Leaves Town match. It is wild, crazy, bloody and ends with the Sheik throwing fire and burning both Lewin and the Sheik's manager Eddie Cretchman.

Match 4 is easily one of the slowest on the disc or in the entire collection. David and Kerry Von Erich take on Killer Karl krupp and Gene Yates.

Match 5 is from the Mid South Coliseum and has The Fabulous Ones against the PYT Express. Stan Lane and Steve Kern were one of the most popular tag teams in the Mid South region and they have a classic confrontation with Norvelle Austin and Koko Ware.

Match 6 gives us an early appearance by The Road Warriors as they take on Austin Idol and Jerry "The King" Lawler. This is another classic match wrestling fans should see.

Match 7 is a rare match between Jerry "The King" Lawler and Randy "Macho Man" Savage in a brutal cage fight in Memphis. Bloody and brutal, but a hell of a lot of fun.

Match 8 is a TV studio match with The Samoans (Afa and Sica) managed by "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd taking on Bob Roop and Ted DiBiase. Lass causes Roop and DiBiase to lose the titles.

Match 9 is a classic involving Bruno Sammartino and Dick The Bruiser taking on Ernie Ladd and Baron Von Raschke. For it's time it's a wild brawl that does not end well for Ladd and The Baron.

Match 10 takes us back to SCW where Manny Fernandez takes on Tully Blanchard. A wild melee ensues after the interference of Gino Hernandez. Fernandez is turned into a bloody mess until Chavo Guerrero comes in and clears the ring.

Match 11 is a Mid South classic in which Rick Rude takes on Jerry "The King" Lawler and actually wins the Southern Heavyweight Belt which Lawler held for a very long time. At the conclusion Lawler attacks Rude and Jim Neidhart and finally gives Rude's valet "Angel" a knockout punch. But even more chaos ensues with the PYT's and Tommy Rich and Eddie Gilbert. An all time classic.

The final match on the disc a from the early 70's and has The Crusher, Dick The Bruiser and Little Bruiser against lackjack Milligan, Blackjack Lanza and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Great epic wrestling from the early 70's.

Another top flight disc that wrestling fans should not be without.
