TOP 70 RELEASES OF 2018 PART 3

And now I continue with the Top 70 for the year.

50. GHOST STORY OF OIWA'S SPIRIT 1961 (SINISTER CINEMA)...Toei Studio produced this excellent Japanese horror tale about a maniacal samurai who wants to be reunited with his wife, Oiwa after she left him due to a murder scandal. Great widescreen print from Sinister with English subtitles.

49. WEREWOLF WOMAN/BELL FROM HELL 1976/1973 (ALPHA)...Two European shockers. I loved the first film much better than the second, however it is good both are available and I believe both are available from other companies in better prints. I will admit that Werewolf Woman is a very good widescreen release from Alpha, which kind of surprised me.

48. NIGHT OF THE LEPUS 1972 (SHOUT FACTORY) BLU-RAY...One of my all time favorite films finally arrived on a beautiful Blu-ray from Shout. Stuart Whitman tries to stop an invasion of giant killer rabbits.

47. ROOM 43 1958 (SINISTER CINEMA)...Great exploitation film about white slavery starring Eddie Constantine and the incredibly gorgeous Diana Dors. Once seen, not forgotten.

46. YOR: HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE 1983 (MILL CREEK) BLU-RAY...Bizarre but wonderful film starring Reb Brown as Yor and the gorgeous Corinne Clery as two prehistoric people fighting for survival against everything including ape men, dinosaurs and a future civilization.

45. SNAKE GIRL AND THE SILVER HAIRED WITCH 1968 (SINISTER CINEMA)...Daiei Studios made this wild epic of Japanese horror about two shape shifting sisters who are rivals. Sinister has been turning out a lot of Japanese horror as of late and this is another excellent one. If beautiful black and white and widescreen with subtitles.

44. THE FALLING MAN 1968 (SINISTER CINEMA)...Henry Silva is a police inspector accused of killing another officer. He quits the department and decides to investigate the frame up, which by the way is the original title for this film. Excellent crime film and Silva is always a joy to watch. Great little twist at the end.

43. A DEVILISH MURDER 1965 (SINISTER CINEMA)Yet another top notch thriller Sinister released. This is a Korean horror story about a murdered woman's spirit inhabiting a cat and seeking revenge. Widescreen and subtitled with an excellent print.

42. FLESH AND BLOOD: THE HAMMER HERITAGE OF HORROR 1994 (SMORES)A great documentary on Hammer Films includes much footage not seen in the first release of this many years ago. No Hammer fan should be without it.

41. ALABAMA'S GHOST 1973 (SINISTER CINEMA)Fred Hobbs directed this bizarre tale about magic, vampires, Nazi women and hippies. They simply don't make films like this anymore and it's about time this got some kind of release.

Ok, there you are. Next Saturday we start the Top 40 for the year, and believe me there is plenty of eccentric films to be listed.
