ISLE OF FORGOTTEN SINS AKA MONSOON 1943 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Another PRC drama, but on what they called an "epic" scale.

The title card on the print says it's "Monsoon" and it's one of the longest running PRC films clocking in at 78 minutes.

Gale Sondergaard stars as a woman who owns a seedy dive of a club called "Isle Of Forgotten Sins". Her name is Marge Willison and she also has several beautiful ladies working for her as servers in her dive.

She meets up with two treasure hunters who are seeking a sunken treasure. One of the hunters is named Mike Clancy (John Carradine) and he has a very close relationship with Marge.

They seek a treasure which is also wanted by two other men and so the set up begins in which Mike and his buddy find the treasure while Capt. Krogan (Sidney Toler) is planning to kill them both and steal the treasure for himself.

Before all this can happen a huge storm hits and all must fight for survival. This film has more going for it than many films I have seen from the same company. You have barroom brawls, gunfights, a huge storm, rackets and so much more crammed into the running time.

This little gem was directed by Edgar Ulmer whom I have said before was one of the most talented directors in the business and it's sad he really received no credit for his ability to get things done on time and budget.

The rest of the cast includes Frank Fenton, Veda Ann Borg, Rita Quigley and Rick Vallin. A fun and fast moving movie that adventure fans might want to check out.
