I've always loved film noir and this is a short 49 min. look at the genre.
This is the kind of documentary I would highly recommend to anyone not familiar with the genre, as it presents some of the greatest films of the genre including "Detour", "The Postman Always Rings Twice", "Mildred Pierce" and many, many more,
There are also interviews with Virginia Mayo and Jane Greer, both of whom appeared in many great film noirs.
This has a copyright notice from 1998 and was one of many short explorations turned out by a small company called Passport. I remember seeing others on VHS back in the day that dealt with horror, science fiction and western films.
I did enjoy all of the clips and always find the information useful in these types of films. This is available for viewing on Amazon Prime and if you're curious you might want to check it out.
If you're not a fan of film noir I feel you're missing some real great Amewrican cinema like no other.
