GIRLS FROM THUNDER STRIP 1970 (AMAZON PRIME)

A David Hewitt film I had never seen!!

This is a pretty simple story about three homicidal bikers who go against three women who run a moonshine operation.

This movie is actually all over the place with plot elements completely forgotten and I have to admit that the print on Amazon Prime isn't too good and there are several scenes missing. I thought the movie was fun, but it could have been so much more.

The movie opens with the three bikers abusing a woman who is with them and then one rapes another helpless woman before they ride into a small town and are soon arrested for stabbing a woman.

We are then introduced to the Sheriff (Jack Starrett) who throws the bikers (one of whom is played by William Bonner) in jail while he is arguing with a government agent named Conrad (Casey Kasem) about raiding a moonshine still in the mountains.

One thing leads to another and the still is raided in a somewhat comedic scene of Conrad scared half to death with bullets flying all around him and the scene finally ending with Conrad looking like Wily Coyote after a cartoon explosion.

The three women running the still are Jessie (Megan Timothy), Red (Maray Ayres) and Lil (Melinda MacHarg). They bust out of jail and take the three bikers with them, which turns out to be a big mistake as they kill Jessie, throw Red from a car and rape Lil.

Red survives and her boyfriend Pike (Jody McCrea) seeks vengeance against the men. He kills them one by one. As I said, the movie is everywhere but it still held my attention. Maybe because I like Hewitt's bizarre films.

I also wish a better print was available from somewhere. The rest of the cast for this classic drive in film includes Lindsay Crosby, Gary Kent, Bruce Kimball and Lisa Tinelli.
