THE BLACK GODFATHER 1976 (MILL CREEK)

Now this film caught my attention.

Rod Perry stars as J.J. a man rising fast in the crime scene and hungry for power.

J.J. wants to consolidate crime syndicates and he wants to take over the white heroine cartel as well. This does not sit well with the cartel, but J.J. is persistent.

Even J.J.'s mentor, a man who rescued him from the streets and helped groom him into the man he is now is reluctant to start a violent mob war over heroine.

When he oversteps his bounds the Mafia strikes back and kills several close friends of J.J.'s and then all out warfare stars between the black crime syndicate and the white heroine dealers.

This is an unusual film in that even though the plot is about a very violent situation, it's played low key. I liked this movie a lot, but then again I am a huge fan of black cinema anyway, so maybe I am a bit prejudiced in favor of them.

However, this is another fast paced film that does have a few surprises and a great performance from Perry. It also features a great soundtrack, as do most of these kinds of movies.

The rest of the cast includes Damu King, Don Chastain, Jimmy Witherspoon and the beautiful Diane Sommerfield. If you haven't seen this and you're a fan of action films you might want to check it out. Again, this is paert of thr Mill Creek set called "Soul Team Six".
