THE DEVIL'S BED 1978 (SINISTER CINEMA)

A very odd movie indeed.

John Phillip Law stars as a young surveyor who is sent to a small Austrian village to do some work for a major company.

Law's character of John Vanetti is met with hostility at the very start. He slowly comes to realize that the small town is controlled by a warlock named Kasimir (Siegfried Wischnewski).

The villagers don't want a factory built there and make things very, very difficult for Vanetti. Things get even more complicated when the daughter of Kasimir falls in love with Vanetti.

Her name is Walpurga (Florinda Bolkan) and she will do anything to keep Vanetti. This leads to some very bizarre occurances and even a few deaths in this small village.

Overall, this is an interesting film that hasn't been talked about much since it was released 41 years ago. I am not sure why, but it seems to have disappeared in the cracks of film history.

The performers all do a very good job and the print from Sinister is subtitled in English and it's a great looking print. If you get a chance to see this, do so, you might be surprised.
