This is another rare American International Pictures release and it hasn't been seen by many, and that to me is a shame.
The incredibly gorgeous Barbara Shelley stars as Leonora Johnson, a woman who visits her ancestors and inherits much more than an estate and the mansion that goes with it.
It seems she has also inherited a curse that turns her into a killer leopard when she is angered. One night she finds her husband with another woman and he is torn apart. The police suspect an escaped zoo animal.
There are a couple of other killings and Leonora is put in a mental institution run by Dr. Brian Marlowe (Robert Ayres). Leonora has the hots for the doctor, but he is happily married, which anger her.
Finally Leonora is freed from the hospital by Brian and sure enough something evil is trying to kill his wife, Dorothy (Kay Callard). The doctor must then try to stop it as he is forced to accept that something supernatural is happening.
At 69 minutes, this is sometimes a slow moving film, but it is always interesting. It reminds me a lot of the Val Lewton classic "The Cat People" but on a much lower budget.
Shelley is always a treat to watch and just stare at her beauty. Again, you might want to check this out on Shout TV before it disappears. I really enjoyed seeing this again.
