THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW 1963 (TGG GROUP)

You know, every once in a while I have to go back to my early roots of TV and re-visit some great things I grew up with, and this was one of the shows I always watched, and still love to this day.

There were 8 episodes of this show on a DVD someone got me for Christmas and it was a nice surprise. The episodes are listed here as they appear on the disc. The episodes are...

ANDY DISCOVERS AMERICA 3/4/63... This is the episode that introduced the character of Mrs. Crump played by Aneta Corsaut. Helen Crump would go on to become a fixture on the show over time. In this episode, Opie (Ron Howard) refuses to learn history from his teacher because he believes that what his father, Andy (Andy Griffith) told him to do.

ANDY'S ENGLISH VALET 3/25/63... An Englishman named Malcolm Merriwether (Bernard Fox) arrives in Mayberry andcauses an accident that costs him 40 dollars. Andy hires him to take care of the house while Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier) is away.

AUNT BEE'S MEDICINE MAN 3/11/63... John Dehner stars as a huckster that sells Aunt Bee 170 proof liquor in order to help her with a mid-life crisis.

BARNEY'S FIRST CAR 4/1/63... Barney Fife (Don Knotts) decides to buy a car and the deal he makes with a little old lady played by Ellen Corby turns out to be too good to be true. Barney and Andy set out to get to the bottom of the mystery. A great episode.

THE BIG HOUSE 5/6/63... Barney and Gomer (Jim Nabors) have a job of watching two hold up men housed in the Mayberry jail. Hilarity ensues when these two try to keep the men in lock-up. George Kennedy stars.

CLASS REUNION 2/4/63... A bittersweet episode in which Andy finds that some broken hearts never really heal during a class reunion in Mayberry.

THE DARLINGS ARE COMING 3/18/63... A musical hillbilly family named the Darlings arrive in Mayberry to meet a relative coming on the bus after serving time in the Army. Denver Pyle stars along with Hoke Howell and Margaret Ann Peterson.

DOGS, DOGS, DOGS 4/22/63... Opie finds a stray dog and Andy lets him keep it, but it escapes and then later returns with about a dozen friends. Barney is worried that all of those dogs will interfere with the county budget officer who is stopping by. Robert Cornthwaite stars.

Those are the 8 that were on the disc along with some other great comedy shows. I've always loved this show and while it doesn't really fall into the flavor of this blog, I wanted to include it because it brings back such great memories for me.
