I, MONSTER 1971 (SINISTER CINEMA)

I love this movie, but was disappointed by this version.

Christopher Lee stars as a 19th century psychologist named Charles Marlowe that has discovered a serum that brings out different personalities in different people.

This is the Amicus take on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and it works very well with a unique spin. Peter Cushing and Mike Raven star as friends of Marlowe who are worried about him when a mysterious man named Blake (Lee) starts running Marlowe's life.

It turns out that Marlowe has taken his serum after testing it out on several patients and now it has gotten out of control, turning him into the ugly and sadistic Blake.

I used to own this film from Retromedia I believe and if I recall it had some brief nudity and violence. In this print the nudity is butchered out by bad editing and so is some of the violence, which leads me to believe this is a TV print.

Well, you take what you can get, but it was dis heartening to have an edited print, but I can't blame Sinister, it is probably all Greg could get. Anyway, it made for good viewing, all edits aside, and I'll watch anything from Amicus and anything that stars both Lee and Cushing.
