ISMAIL AND ABDEL MEETS FRANKENSTEIN 1953 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Oh my God. I haven't seen this for a few years, and I finally got the chance to revisit it.

This is a rip off of the 1948 classic Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and there are actually some scenes that they have ripped off verbatim which I found incredible.

This film is also known by the rather plain title of "Have Mercy" which is odd in and of itself. Ismail Yassin is in the Lou Costello role as a dimwit whose brain a mad scientist wants to use to put into the brain of a frankenstein-like monster.

Both he and Abdel Fatah Al Kasri are lured to a castle to cater a party and end up being chased by monsters. much like the above mentioned Universal classic from 1948.

The comedy is very strained here and once in a while there is a good comedy bit, but not often. You get, as I mentioned a Frankenstein-like monster, a vampire and a werewolf. The interesting thing here is that the man inflicted with the werewolf curse is said to have a form of epilepsy, which kind of blew my mind, but ok.

To be fair, this is really no worse than a lot of things I have seen, but the humor somehow passed me by as the shrillness of Ismail is sometimes just too much. The print from Sinister is beautiful and subtitled.
