HANNAH LEE: AN AMERICAN PRIMITIVE 1953 (WESTERNMANIA)

This is a 50's western I had never even heard of. It was unique to say the least.

This is a Jack Broder production starring MacDonald Carey as a gunslinger named Bus Crow. This is a little different of a role for Carey and he does a good job with it.

Joanna Dru is Hannah Lee, and even thought she is the title character, her part seems rather insignificant. Crow is hired by some big businessmen in the small western town to rid it of squatters, and he takes the job of killing with no feeling whatsoever.

Outrage causes the people to demand a sheriff come to town to restore law and order and one arrives named Sam Rochelle (John Ireland). Rochelle seems to know Crowe is behind the killings, but can't prove it.

Hannah slowly falls for Crow even though she knows he is a heartless killer. Everything comes to a wild showdown between Rochelle and Crow. This is not a well known film, but I discovered that it was even shot in 3D!!

This film is one of the strangest films I have seen in the western genre and I can't quite put my finger on why exactly. However, if you get a chance, you might want to see this and I hope you enjoy it. I did, but I am not very discriminating.
