ROCKY MOUNTAIN MYSTERY 1935 (WESTERNMANIA)

This is an early Randolph Scott film that I discovered one day by accident.

Scott stars as Larry Sutton, a young man seeking a job at a Radium mine. He is also investigating the disappearance of his cousin.

He befriends Tex Murdock (Charles Sale) and both begin working together to solve a murder. This really reminds me of an old dark house movies than a western based on a Zane Grey novel.

The action unfolds at the mine as people are killed one by one until Sutton and Murdock put two and two together in an ending that may either surprise you or not.

Paramount released this and it seems to have vanished for a while, but I discovered it on a streaming channel and figured I'd give it a whirl, and I'm glad I did. Scott has always been a favorite of mine, and in this film you can see the beginnings of his western character that would become so familiar in later years.

If you're a fan of "B" westerns this is something I can recommend. Ann Sheridan has the role of the leading lady that captures Suttons heart. The title I saw this under is "The Fighting Westerner".
