PENINSULA 2020 (WELL GO USA)

This is the follow up to "Train To Busan".

It is nowhere near as good as the first film, and I compare this to the first movie like I compare "Day Of The Dead" to "Night Of The Living Dead". In other words an interesting film, but it lacks everything else the original had.

This takes place 4 years after the original zombie outbreak. All of South Korea has been infected with zombies and a few people are chosen to go back into Korea to recover a truck loaded with stolen money.

This sets the stage for some very well done action sequences and a lot of great zombie action. One of the survivors of the group is taken hostage by a band of rebels who amuse themselves by staging cage fights between captives and zombies.

This harkened me back to "Escape From New York" in a way. Soon the captive mans brother comes looking for him and he attempts rescue in a great set piece involving humans and zombies. Then he must also help a small band of survivors get out of the infected area as well.

It's not a bad film, but it really is no relation top the earlier hit. The problem with so many of these kinds of films is that if the first one is an unexpected box office hit, then people seem to think they can follow it up with something just as good. 9 times out of 10 thery are wrong.

If you're a fan of the first film, then by all means see this one. I'm not saying it's not a good film, but it ain't no "Train To Busan" by any means.
