DESERT SANDS 1955 (AMAZON PRIME)

A pretty cool find.

This Leslie Selander film is a very good one about members of the French Foreign Legion fighting Arabs in North Africa.

Leading the French is a US commander named Capt. David Malcolm (Ralph Meeker) who assumes command of the post ahead of his relief troops. Shortly after the fort spots his soldiers all dying around a bruning cross just a few hundred yards from said fort.

Almost immediately after El Zanal (Keith Larson) leads a band of several hundred arabs to attack the fort. They succeed in taking it over in a very bloody attack. Zanal's sister, Princess Zara (Marla English) starts to fall in ,love with the now captive Malcolm.

There is plenty of intrigue and romance and the story really moves along well. This was an undiscovered gem I had never heard of. Shame on me for my lack of knowledge especially considering it stars the gorgeous Marla English.

The rest of the cast includes Ron Randall, Philip Tonge, J. Carroll Naish, Lita Milan, John Carradine and John Smith. Adventure fans won't want to miss this little film, and it's ALWAYS a pleasure to see English and Milan.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED film from United Artists and Bel-Air.
