NIGHT BIRDS 1970 (SEVERIN) BLU-RAY

A change of pace for director Andy Milligan.

A young man named Dink (Berwick Kaler) is living on the tough streets of England's East end.

He meets a young woman named Dee (Julie Shaw) and she shows him some kindness and even lets him sleep at her place instead of on the streets. This surprises Dink, but he finds some contentment in life for a while.

Everything seems to be ok for a while and the two falls for each other and form what the viewer is lead to believe is a good relationship.

However, one must keep in mind, this is an Andy Milligan film and things won't stay quiet for long. After a while Dee all of a sudden turns on Dink and tells him he has an hour to leave.

The devastated Dink plunges off of the roof of the building and dies. Immediately we see Dee starting to help another homeless man. The cycle starts again.

Milligan shows us that once again, the female is nothing but evil and will only use men to get what she wants. This is pretty standard for Milligan, and while others will knock his films for this, I won't.

The film is plodding at times, but I found it to be a good change from the usual Milligan fare. It's a rare little film that Severin has released on their Andy Milligan Set and it's a good looking Black and White print.
