A KNIFE FOR THE LADIES 1973 (CODE RED)

A very good film indeed.

This is a mixture of horror and western that works on every level. An Eastern detective travels out west to investigate the murders of several protitutes who have been knifed in brutal fashion.

The detective named Burns (Jeff Cooper) meets many people with something to hide including the drunken sheriff Jarrod (Jack Elam). The investigation goes anything but smooth as Burns runs into more trouble than he bargained for.

Burns concludes that the murders remind him of the Ripper murders in England and that there might be a copycat killer running around. The film is filled with colorful characters including Elizabeth (Ruth Roman) who is very sinister as well as Hooker (Gene Evans) a man who will stop at nothing to become sheriff.

Burns falls for a lovely woman named Jenny (Diana Ewing) who is being targeted by the killer. Everything comes to a bizarre conclusion with a plot twist I never saw coming.

It's movies like this that make watching them such a treat. I cannot recommend this one enough, and I hope you get a chance to see it.
