PAINTED SMILE 1962 (TUBI)

This nifty crime film is also known as "Murder Can Be Deadly".

Three students go to a party at a nightclub and one named Tom (Tony Wickert) is picked up by a young woman named Jo Lake (Liz Fraser). When they return to her flat they find her partner in crime dead, and because Jo knows who the killer is and is terrified of him she forces Tom to help hide the body.

This puts Tom is quite a bind and his friends decide to help him before the police have a chance to arrest him. The action moves along at a great pace as this film is only an hour long.

It's interesting to note that lead actress Liz Fraser was known best for her blonde bimbo roles in many British comedies, and here she plays the role of a woman caught in circumstances that can only end badly for her.

It's a good change of pace for her and she plays it VERY well indeed. The rest of the cast includes Nanette Newman, Kenneth Griffith, David Hemmings and Peter Reynolds.

If you enjoy British crime dramas, check this out. It's slick, well done and fast moving.
